Most consignments begin with a photograph. Send an image, whatever the quality, with anything you know about where the object came from — an old invoice, a probate valuation, a label on the reverse — and the relevant specialist will come back to you with a saleable range and a recommended sale.

There is no charge for a verbal auction estimate. Formal written valuations for insurance or probate are charged at a day rate, which is refunded in full against commission if the property is subsequently consigned.

What happens next

If the object is right for a sale we agree a reserve with you in writing before it is catalogued. Nothing is ever offered below the figure you have agreed. Property is photographed, condition-reported and researched in house, and you see the catalogue entry before it is published.
